“Mom, is there a place where kids can sell their art?”
I suppose it was only a matter of time before she meant business. Seriously.
She’s played “business owner” all her life— one day, it was toy food in the play kitchen and the next thing I know, she’s making real menus and serving us things like “Cheesy Melts” and “Fruits and Hoots” for dinner. She’s set up craft fairs in the bedroom and roped her brother into occasional employment and gotten Dad to purchase things like hand-sewn mini pillows and good-luck charms.
We found a local craft fair that allows children to set up their own booths a couple times a year: She filled out the application form, got approved, set up shop, and had the best day of her life.
But twice a year isn’t enough, so we registered her business with our state and now PiggySealArt LLC is moving out of the living room and into the great big world of endless possibility.
She tells me she’s saving up for college so she can become a marine biologist who works with seals. I’m cheering for her. Live your dreams, PiggySeal!
